Service Learning Washington

Who Are We:
Service Learning Washington is a K-20 partnership of service learning practitioners committed to the long term sustainability of effective high quality service learning and culminating project practice in the State of Washington, supporting youth academic achievement, character development, and building the skills, knowledge, and actions of active engaged citizenship.

Our Goals:

  • Creating Connections:  To connect key stakeholders in community based organizations, schools, national service, and higher education as partners to deepen service learning and culminating project practice, promote sustainability, and leverage resources to meet real community needs and develop engaged citizens.
  • Support & Resources:  To share “what works” in service learning and culminating project practice through resources, tools, education, research, and training to community based organizations, national service programs, educators, parents, students and other interested parties.

Our Activities:
Activities are designed to be responsive to the needs of service providers (organizations), learning providers (teachers), and service learners (students).  We seek to provide innovative and proven programming, partnerships, and activities.  We proactively seek partnerships with other groups to achieve mutually beneficial service learning and culminating project outcomes.

  • Training and Technical Assistance:
SLWA seeks to make available local and national trainers to service learning and culminating project practitioners and the community, as well as a variety of trainings offered by our partners.
